Vision

A healthy and prosperous future, powered entirely by clean energy is possible: A planet with a safe climate and a healthy atmosphere. With clean air and clean water. With vibrant ecosystems. With thriving communities fairly sharing in all the benefits of a clean economy.

But time is running out to protect humanity from the ravages of the ever-worsening climate crisis and its catastrophic risks and impacts. Climate-related economic losses are mounting rapidly. Property insurance costs are soaring. Climate change is bringing Irreversible ecological damage to our nation’s parks, our national forests, other natural landscapes, and to biodiversity.

We are therefore convening a national gathering devoted to protecting and extending past gains in clean energy and energy efficiency. We invite all people of goodwill to further these efforts independently, and to join in our event, remotely or, if possible, in person.

Mission

Accelerating the Transition will convene leaders from business, investment, state and local government, clean energy companies, nonprofits, and foundations to remove barriers to the rapid expansion of clean energy, energy efficiency, and natural climate solutions.

This worsening crisis demands a serious, nonpartisan national effort. The conference will bring together a diverse group of committed leaders to share strategies, propose solutions, and begin implementing actions that can halt climate disruption.

The focus will be on U.S. domestic action, demonstrating leadership that can inspire global adoption—especially when the economic, environmental, and social benefits are clear. Sessions will highlight cost-effective solutions to lower energy and transportation costs, integrate V2G technologies, and promote locally-driven strategies for cities, counties, and states.

Key priorities include:

  • Reducing the backlog of clean power projects seeking grid access

  • Streamlining permitting processes without sacrificing reliability

  • Building public-private partnerships to finance the clean-energy transition

  • Sharing best practices and policies among participants

  • Examining all low-carbon options, including nuclear power, carbon capture, and expanded energy efficiency

  • Addressing hard-to-abate industrial emissions in heavy industries such as steel and cement
